About Me

Hello, I'm Yesenia.

Over the years, I have witnessed a reality that continues to shape my work: while our healthcare system is filled with dedicated professionals providing essential medical care, many individuals and their loved ones still find themselves feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and alone during some of life's most difficult transitions.

When serious illness, caregiving, or the end of life enters our lives, people are often asked to navigate complex decisions while carrying grief, uncertainty, and fear. Caregivers become exhausted. Loved ones struggle to balance practical responsibilities with their own emotions. Medical teams work tirelessly within systems that often leave little room for the deeper conversations many people need most. In these moments, I have seen a profound need for more human connection, compassion, and support.

My journey into end-of-life work grew from more than 25 years of serving diverse communities through education, mental health services, assisted living, affordable housing, and community-based programs. Throughout these experiences, I found myself drawn to the moments when people needed someone to listen deeply, honor their humanity, and hold space for what could not be fixed or solved.

I founded Alma & Luna Care Services because I believe no one should have to navigate serious illness, caregiving, dying, or grief in isolation. As a Grief & EOL Companion, I provide emotionally safe, culturally responsive, and spiritually supportive companionship for individuals and their loved ones. I work alongside caregivers, hospice teams, social workers, chaplains, and medical providers to help strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and create greater continuity of care.

I often describe my role as a compassionate thread woven throughout the circle of care. I help connect individuals, loved ones, caregivers, and care team members through meaningful conversations, emotional support, advance care planning, legacy work, ritual, and reflection. My goal is to help ensure that the person's values, wishes, and voice remain at the center of care. When these connections are strengthened, people feel more supported, caregivers feel less alone, and care becomes more aligned with what matters most.

My approach is rooted in deep listening, presence, cultural humility, and respect for each person's unique beliefs, traditions, and identity. As a bilingual Spanish-English Grief & EOL Companion, I am honored to support people from diverse backgrounds, including intergenerational and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.

Nature also plays an important role in my life and work. I spend a great deal of time in the forest and it continually reminds me of life's cycles of growth, change, loss, and renewal, and that endings are not separate from life, but an essential part of it.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: every person deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and cared for as they move through life's final chapter. It is an honor to support individuals, loved ones, and caregivers with compassion, presence, and grace during this sacred time. If you are facing a serious illness, caring for someone you love, navigating grief, or simply seeking guidance as you prepare for the future, I invite you to reach out. You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly what support you need. Together, we can explore what would bring greater clarity, comfort, and peace for you and those you care about.

I would be honored to listen to your story and learn how I can support you.

With warmth,

Yesenia Lira-Baus
