Frequently Asked Questions

About Grief Companion Services

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œWhat is a Grief Companion?

A Grief Companion provides compassionate, non-judgmental emotional support to individuals and families experiencing grief, loss, or significant life transitions. My role is to walk alongside you, offering a safe space to express your thoughts, feelings, fears, and memories while honoring your unique experience.

โ€‹โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œHow is a Grief Companion different from a therapist?

A Grief Companion does not diagnose, treat, or provide mental health therapy. Instead, I offer presence, emotional support, compassionate listening, and guidance through the grieving process. If you need clinical mental health support, I can help connect you with appropriate resources.

โ€‹โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œWhat types of grief do you support?

I support individuals experiencing:

  • Death of a loved one

  • Anticipatory grief before an expected loss

  • Pet loss

  • Caregiver grief and stress

  • Divorce or relationship loss

  • Health-related loss and life-changing diagnoses

  • Loss of identity, career, independence, or life roles

  • Other significant life transitions and losses

๐Ÿ’œDo I need to be grieving a recent loss?

No. Grief has no timeline. Whether your loss occurred weeks, months, or years ago, you are welcome to seek support whenever you feel ready.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œWhat happens during a grief support session?

Each session is tailored to your needs. We may spend time:

  • Talking about your loved one

  • Processing emotions

  • Exploring memories and meaning

  • Discussing coping strategies

  • Creating rituals or remembrance practices

  • Navigating difficult life changes

  • Simply sitting together in compassionate presence

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œThere is no "right" way to grieve.

Everyone experiences grief differently, and all emotions are welcome.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œCan loved ones attend sessions together?

Yes. Sessions with loved ones can provide a supportive space for communication, processing grief, and navigating changing dynamics together.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œDo you offer support for caregivers?

Absolutely. Caregivers often carry tremendous emotional, physical, and spiritual burdens. I provide a supportive space where caregivers can share their experiences and receive compassionate care.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œDo you provide support before a death?

Yes. Anticipatory grief support is available for individuals when a loved one is facing a terminal diagnosis, declining health, or approaching end-of-life circumstances.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œDo you provide support for pet loss?

Yes. Our animal companions are beloved, and their loss can be deeply painful. I offer compassionate support before, during, and after a pet's transition.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œAre sessions confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is respected. Information shared during our sessions remains confidential, except in situations where disclosure may be required by law to protect someone's safety.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œDo you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Depending on your location and preferences, sessions may be available virtually, by phone, or in person.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œHow many sessions will I need?

Every grief journey is different. Some clients benefit from a single session during a difficult time, while others appreciate ongoing support over weeks or months. Together, we'll determine what feels most supportive for you.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œCan grief support include spiritual conversations?

Yes. If spirituality, faith, personal beliefs, or questions about meaning are important to you, those topics are welcome. I honor all belief systems and meet you where you are.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œWhat if I'm not ready to talk about my grief?

That's okay. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable sharing. Grief Companioning is about meeting you where you are and moving at your pace.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œHow do I get started?

Simply contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation. We'll discuss your needs, answer your questions, and determine whether grief companioning feels like the right fit for you.

โ€‹

๐Ÿ’œStill Have Questions?

You don't have to navigate grief alone. Reach out here for a complimentary consultation and learn how compassionate support can help you through this chapter of your journey.
